Toss Delhi Capitals choose to bowl v Kings XI Punjab

Kings XI Punjab have left out the opener Chris Gayle, who has a niggle, as Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl first in Mohali.

Gayle made 79 off 47 balls in Kings XI’s tournament opener only a week ago, but missed out in this home game, with his team bringing in the England allrounder Sam Curran to open alongside KL Rahul. The Australian seam bowler Andrew Tye also made way for the Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman. The local players from Kings XI’s victorious team on Saturday all remain in the side.

Delhi, meanwhile, have made just one change to the XI that won via a Super Over against Kolkata Knight Riders over the weekend. They have included the 22-year-old right-arm seam bowler Avesh Khan, at the expense of legspinner Amit Mishra.

Delhi Capitals: 1 Prithvi Shaw, 2 Shikhar Dhawan, 3 Shreyas Iyer (capt), 4 Colin Ingram, 5 Rishabh Pant (wk), 6 Hanuma Vihari, 7 Chris Morris, 8 Harshal Patel, 9 Avesh Khan, 10 Sandeep Lamichhane, 11 Kagiso Rabada

Kings XI Punjab: 1 KL Rahul (wk), 2 Mayank Agarwal, 3 Sarfaraz Khan, 4 David Miller, 5 Mandeep Singh, 6 Sam Curran, 7 R Ashwin (capt), 8 Hardus Viljoen, 9 Mujeeb Ur Rahman, 10 M Ashwin, 11 Mohammed Shami
