As FC Barcelona prepare to take on Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League, rumors have arisen that one United player could switch sides come next season. Sky Sports reports that Juan Mata has held talks with Barça and could potentially come at a relatively low cost.
Manchester United has reportedly offered him a new contract but so far terms have not been agreed. That leaves the door open for a potential free transfer back to La Liga.
Mata’s father has publicly spoken of “proposals from Champions League teams,” although he has admitted that United’s offer has made them “very happy” as well.
The Spaniard has been linked with a move to Barcelona in the past but it has yet to come to pass.
Mata’s father said a return to La Liga is possible, but it has yet to be decided whether the move would materialize.
